Plain revealed a focal tuft of vascular channels in relation to mid portion of left renal vein adjacent to drainage of left gonadal vein. It shows filling up of contrast synchronous with renal vein  and shows scattered areas of filling defects within.

The liver showed morphological features of chronic parenchymal disease, without any significant portosystemic shunts.

Case Discussion

This is an interesting case of an incidental isolated venous varix confined to left renal vein in the absence of any other portosystemic collaterals. Varices may shows areas of calcification, partial thrombosis and documentation is important as they could be a precursor for renal vein thrombosis.
