Left sided IVC

IVC is observed on left side at it`s infrarenal traject, then it cross over to the right side anterior to the aorta after uniting with the left renal vein. Suprarenal IVC traject is normal until cardiac right atrium.

A left IVC (prevalence of 0.2%–0.5%) results from regression of the right supracardinal vein with persistence of the left supracardinal vein.
