Presentation

Left sided stab wound to the neck.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

CTA neck demonstrates a markedly enlarged left sternocleidomastoid muscle expanded in a fusiform configuration particularly in its mid-section consistent with a intramuscular hematoma. There is a tiny round focus of contrast blush within the muscle intimately associated with a tiny vessel suggestive of active bleeding (Image 85 of 130) . The intramuscular gas locules are consistent with a history of penetrating injury.
