Veiled opacification of the left hemithorax.
Enlarged dense left hilum.
Heart size normal. Right lung clear.
Case Discussion
The classical veiled appearance of a left upper lobe collapse and the cause also illustrated on the plain radiograph.
In a smoker, a left upper lobe collapse is lung cancer until proven otherwise. In this case, one can even observe the central lung mass responsible for the collapse.
Staging CT, bronchoscopy, in some circumstances PET and MDT discussion with ensue.
