Presentation

Smoker. Shortness of breath. No fever.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Veiled opacification of the left hemithorax.  Volume loss in the left hemithorax.

Enlarged dense left hilum.

Right lung clear.

Case Discussion

A classic left upper lobe collapse radiograph with the cause well illustrated - a large left hilar mass.

CT and subsequent bronchoscopic biopsy confirmed a lung malignancy.

This is a spot diagnosis based on nearly pathognomic imaging (an Aunt Minnie).
