Presentation

Fever and cough.

Patient Data

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

There is a veiling opacity over the left hemithorax, and the left cardiac margin is not clearly seen. The mediastinum is slightly shifted towards the left. 

Case Discussion

In this instance the lobar collapse was secondary to mucus plugging in the context of a viral respiratory tract illness.
