Left ventricular pseudoaneurysm

Case contributed by Dr Maxim Stalkov

Chest pain post radiofrequency catheter ablation.

Patient Data

Age: 83
Gender: Female

Cardiac CT demonstrates left ventricular pseudoaneurysm. Myocardial defect is located in the lateral wall in close proximity to mitral valve. Loculated hemopericardium and sliding hiatus hernia are also noted.

Case Discussion

Pseudoaneurysms represent free wall rupture of the left ventricle contained by adherent pericardium. Postsurgical pseudoaneurysms are as common as postinfarction.
