Hoarse voice, swallowing difficulty and dyspnoea
Patient Data
Scan was taken down to the arch of aorta to assess the course of left recurrent laryngeal nerve. A paraoesophageal abscess is seen on left side, likely to involve left recurrent laryngeal nerve in tracheo-oesophageal groove. Paramedian deviation of left vocal cord seen.

Case Discussion
This case shows the importance of imaging in cases of left vocal cord palsy, where it is important to image down to the arch of aorta, the point where the recurrent laryngeal nerve turns on the left side.
Patient was operated on and paraoesophageal abscess drained successfully.
