The left superior femoral epiphysis is markedly flattened, and sclerotic with early fragmentation. Enlargement and deformation of the femoral head and neck. There are also sclerotic changes in the left acetabulum.
The right hip appears normal.
Case Discussion
The findings in a 5-year old male with painful hip are compatible with Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease.
