Presentation in ER with high fever, cough with yellow mucus and chest pain.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years old
Gender: Male
x-ray

The chest radiograph shows multiple bilateral airspace opacities. There is also a basal right pleural effusion. Normal cardiac profile.

Case Discussion

Blood culture was negative.

A urinary antigen test with Legionella-Ag was performed with rapid immunofluorescence technique

The positive result permitted a rapid diagnosis.
