Leiomyoma of the urinary bladder

Presentation

Pelvic pain with dysuria.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Well-defined homogeneous hypoechoic mass of the posterolateral bladder wall of submucosal location with peripheral calcification.

There is a relatively well-defined lesion of the posterolateral bladder wall most likely of intramural location covering partially the ureteral orifice and measures 34 x 32 x 30 mm. It appears isodense to the muscles on non-contrast images with thin arciform peripheral calcification toward the bladder lumen. Moderate enhancement is noted following IV contrast. The perivesical fat is preserved. No hydroureteronephrosis.

Small left renal cortical renal cyst.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent a bladder cystoscopy with biopsy and histopathological exam that confirms the diagnosis of a leiomyoma of the urinary bladder.
