Lens dislocation

Presentation

Admitted post-head trauma. Headache and right-sided vision loss.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
CT

Right lens in 9 o'clock position consistent with lens dislocation. 

Left frontopatietal subarachnoid haemorrhage and right temporal haemorragic contusion.

Case Discussion

Ectopia lentis is most commonly see in patients after head injury like in this case. 

Other causes and associations include systemic disorders such as Ehlers-Danlos, homocystinuria or Marfan syndrome.

In cases of multiple intracranial abnormalities, pathologies involving the lenses may be easily missed.
