Presentation
Enlarging scalp mass, previous history of trauma.
Patient Data
An area of encephalomalacia is seen in the left parietal lobe herniating through a large defect in the overlying skull. Notable in this region is a large porencephalic cyst. There is associated dilatation of the posterior horn of the left lateral ventricle.
The large bony defect in the left parietal bone has scalloped edges.
Case Discussion
CT findings of encephalomalacia herniating through a skull defect, porencephalic cyst, unilateral ventricular dilatation in a patient with previous history of trauma, are consistent with leptomeningeal cyst also known as growing skull fracture.
