Levodopa carbidopa intestinal gel pump

Case contributed by Dr Jayanth Keshavamurthy

Patient has history of Parkinson's disease.

Patient Data

Age: 75
Gender: Male

What is this device and why was it put in?

There is a percutaneous tube and catheter entering the stomach and terminating over the jejunum, expected position and location.

Case Discussion

This is one of the accepted treatment strategies for end stage Parkinson's.

Not many radiologists are aware of this treatment option.

One of the major drawbacks to the pump approach is the need for a percutaneous gatrojejunostomy (a small feeding tube).
