Lingual thyroid

40 Y/O female with dysphagia

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Female

A slightly hyperdense mass ( 45 * 34 mm) is seen at midline supraglottic space which is not distinguishable from the posterior aspect of tongue . After contrast injection marked enhancement is noted. Normal thyroid gland is not seen at the anatomical location.

No lymphadenopathy.

Case Discussion

The findings consistent with an ectopic lingual thyroid. 

Thyroid scan had marked uptake at the location of mass in favour of lingual thyroid (Not shown here).
