Presentation
Soft perineal mass noted in first weeks of life, slowly enlarging over time.
Patient Data
Well-defined homogenous echogenic subcutaneous mass in the left perineal region, without visible internal Doppler flow.
Well-defined subcutaneous mass in the left perineum with high T1WI signal saturating out on water-only DIXON sequence, suggesting fat content. No significant enhancement. Areas of internal mildly elevated T2WI signal.
Case Discussion
Imaging findings in this young patient are highly suggestive of a lipoblastoma. Though similar imaging caracteristics in an adult might be worrisome for atypical lipoma or well-differentiated liposarcoma, these almost never occur in children.
Percutaneous biopsy confirmed a lipoma-like subtype of lipoblastoma.
