Presentation

Knee pain and swelling with no history of trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 12 years.
Gender: Male

Significant amount of joint effusion with intraarticular frond-like fat signal intensity projections (showing high signal intensity on T1/T2 WIs, and suppressed on fat sat series), seen primarily in the suprapatellar and peri-cruciate areas showing peripheral postcontrast enhancement along with diffuse thin synovial wall enhancement without blooming artefacts or bony erosions, features are suggesting lipoma arborescens.

Case Discussion

These findings are characteristic of lipoma arborescens. It is a rare condition, typically present between 50-70 years, but has been reported in the young as in this case.
