On the left side of the neck, deep to trapezium is is a large fatty mass measuring 9.2 x 3.8 x 5.3 cm, characteristic of a lipomatous. As a very thin occasional strands of soft tissue coursing through but no solid component. It is sharply circumscribed and does not appear to invade the adjacent musculature.
The remainder of the neck is unremarkable in appearance, with no lymph node enlargement, collections, or destructive bony lesions. Lung apices are unremarkable.
Neck mass has characteristic appearances of a lipoma. Its location and deep to musculature increases the rate of malignant transformation and a low grade liposarcoma can have very similar appearances. Further assessment with a contrast enhanced MRI is recommended, especially in the setting of increasing size and symptoms, to insure that no atypical features are present.
