Lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum

There is fat-attenuating thickening of the interatrial septum with sparing of the fossa ovalis compatible with lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum.
Other findings:
- negative for pulmonary thromboembolism
- abdominal fat herniating into the lower mediastinum through the esophageal hiatus
- heterogeneous bone densities with mixed lucent and sclerotic foci for which correlation with bone scan was suggested
Case Discussion
Lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum is a benign condition characterized by mass-like fatty deposits in the interatrial septum with sparing of the fossa ovalis.
