Posterior spinal defect covered with skin and subcutaneous fat tissue at lower lumbar levels is seen. The neural placode-lipoma interface lies within the spinal canal at the level of L3-L4.
Low lying tethered cord as well as syrinx are also noted.

Neural placode-lipoma interface within spinal canal associated with occult spinal dysraphism are associated with lipomyelocele.
