Liponecrotic breast calcifications

Case contributed by Dr Garth Kruger

Routine screening study.

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Female

Widespread liponecrotic calcifications in both breast.

Case Discussion

These are archetypical liponecrotic calcifications and are seen commonly .

The cannot cause confusion. They are well defined with lucent centres and spread throughout the breasts. They tend to stay stable but don't be phased if they increase with age or (believe it or not) disappear on follow up studies.
