Case Discussion

A Lisfranc amputation is a disarticulation at the level of the tarsometatarsal joints 1. It is a common procedure for osteomyelitis and gangrene. A Lisfranc amputation results in a short amputation stump that results in muscle imbalance. Patients can experience foot drop, posterior muscle contraction, and more stress on the cuboid bone often resulting in a need for tendon balancing procedures 2.
