Presentation
Status post amputation.
Patient Data

Radiographs show amputation/disarticulation of the foot at the level of the tarsometatarsal joints, consistent with Lisfranc amputation. An accessory navicular is present. There is loss of soft tissue coverage at the stump.
Case Discussion
A Lisfranc amputation is a disarticulation at the level of the tarsometatarsal joints 1. It is a common procedure for osteomyelitis and gangrene. A Lisfranc amputation results in a short amputation stump that results in muscle imbalance. Patients can experience foot drop, posterior muscle contraction, and more stress on the cuboid bone often resulting in a need for tendon balancing procedures 2.
