Liver metastases with fluid-fluid levels

Case contributed by Michael P Hartung
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Pancreas cancer restaging.

Numerous hypoenhancing lesions throughout the liver with fluid-fluid levels. Large hypoenhancing pancreas head/uncinate process mass with ductal obstruction, but relative preservation of the pancreas tail. Notice only two sequences are available for this case.

Case Discussion

MRI was performed in this case to characterize new liver lesions seen on CT for this patient with pancreas adenocarcinoma. Although uncommon, liver metastases can appear as mostly cystic with fluid-fluid level, as was the case for this patient.
