Case contributed by Dr Henry Knipe

Severe right knee pain past 3-4 months.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

At the medial aspect of the lateral gastrocnemius insertion is a low T2 and PD signal abnormality measuring 16 x 11 x 15 mm extending intra-articular to the posterior aspect of the lateral femoral metaphysis where there appears to be a pressure erosion. On the prior x-rays, there is no calcification in this region. T2* sequences demonstrated low signal and blooming. Post contrast sequences demonstrated mild enhancement.

Case Discussion

Typical appearances for a tenosynovial giant cell tumor, which is localized, and appears to be both intra-articular and extra-articular.
