Ill-defined hypodensity is seen involving the left insular cortex with loss of grey and white matter interface (loss of insular ribbon sign).
Loss of delineation of the basal ganglia is noted (disappearing basal ganglia sign).
No intracranial hemorrhage.
Case Discussion
Loss of insular ribbon sign and disappearing basal ganglia sign are computed tomography features of middle cerebral artery acute ischemic infarct seen on plain CT.
