Presentation

Jump from a height. Limping.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Fracture of the calcaneum.

The forefoot and midfoot are normal.

x-ray

Comminuted intra-articular fracture of the calcaneum with a reduction of Bohler's angle.

Normal talus.

Normal tarsal bones.

Case Discussion

Although termed the Lover's fracture which portrays a romantic clinical history it is often associated with escape in other forms such as escaping from the scene of a crime.  For this reason, the patient may not always provide a reliable history at presentation.
