Presentation

Excruciating pain in both feet after having jumped from a height of 2 meters.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years

Comminuted right calcaneal fracture involving all three subtalar facets, the anterior surface (for the calcaneocuboid joint), the sinus tarsi and the sustentaculum tali.

Comminuted left calcaneal fracture involving the anterior and posterior subtalar facets, with infrerior depression of the posterior facet, and the sinus tarsi.

Case Discussion

Bilateral comminuted calcaneal fracture, both Sanders type 4. In this case, the etiology was not jumping off a balcony to escape a lover's enraged spouse but merely a prosaic work accident (at least that is what the patient reported).
