Patient Data
Anterior mediastinum opacity without the silhouette sign.
Voluminous solid neoformation infiltrating the distal part of the sternal manubrium and the adjacent left ribs.
This lesion, extended to the upper lobe of the left lung, shows enhancement of the septa and in the periphery with some calcifications in the context.
The lung is normal.
The lesion has inhomogeneous signal intensity on T1 and T2 sequences and has inhomogeneous enhancement after administration of contrast medium.

Case Discussion
Chondrosarcomas are a primitive malignant tumor that derives from cartilage cells. It usually appears at the center of a bone segment, with no pre-existing lesions (central chondrosarcoma). It may also be secondary to a pre-existent condition such as an exostosis (peripheral chondrosarcoma).
