Lower limbs arterial thrombosis

Presentation

Patient with left chronic leg wound, bilateral lower limbs mild edema with dark coloration.

Patient Data

Age: 70 Years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Heterogeneous and hypoechogenic thrombus material is visualized within the bilateral lower limbs arterial systems involving mostly the popliteal arteries, the posterior tibial arteries and the bilateral dorsal pedis arteries. Proximal right popliteal artery shows a thin stream of flow within it's central non-obstructed lumen. The rest of the mentioned arterial systems from their medial to distal ends are totally occluded.

Case Discussion

Features most compatible with bilateral distal lower limbs arterial thrombosis. Grade III subcutaneous venous varicosities is noted as well arising from the long saphenous veins bilaterally.
