Lumbar disc sequestration

A central disc herniation at L4-L5 with a small mass in the anterior epidural space at L5 level, compressing the thecal sac and adjacent nerve root. It elicits an isoisgnal to the intervertebral disc on T1, slight high signal on T2 and STIR with peripheral enhancement on postcontrast sequences, suggestive of a free disc fragment that has no continuity with the native L4-L5 disc.
