Right leg pain.

MRI spine showing a posterior broad-based central/right subarticular L4/5 disc protrusion compressing the dural sac and the right L5 descending root. L5/S1 broad-based central protrusion does not result in any significant stenosis.

Case Discussion

This case represents one common finding for those radiologists reporting spine MRI. 

Intervertebral disc abnormalities are found in 25% of individuals below the age of 60, and over 50% in those over the age of 60.
