T1W left parasagittal image shows hypointense well-defined nodular lesion of L3. Corresponding STIR image shows high signal lesion.
T1W fat sat after contrast administration demonstrates homogeneous enhancement of the lesion. Corresponding axial T1W fat sat after contrast administration shows homogenous enhancement of the lesion, left paramedian in position.
Axial CT image shows left transpedicular co-axial biopsy needle.
Case Discussion
Biopsy-proven L3 chordoma. The lumbar spine is an atypical location for chordomas, which are much more common in the sacrum and clivus.
