Lunate dislocation

Presentation

High speed dirt bike accident, landed on left side on out-stretched hand. Complaining of paresthesia in fingers and wrist pain.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Complete lunate dislocation with abnormal rotation to 180 degrees. No definite fracture identified. 

Case Discussion

The patient had urgent closed reduction whilst in emergency after hours, which was unsuccessful for a complete relocation of the lunate.

Required open reduction and fixation with K-wires. Median nerve was noted to be under stretch during surgery.
