Lung cancer with bronchoscopic biopsy

Presentation

Chest pain for a few weeks. Cough. External CXR showed LMZ opacity, symptoms not clearing after antibiotics.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

Large left lung spiculated mass with cavitation abutting the left pulmonary artery. No suggestion of mediastinal invasion. No bronchial obstruction. No lymphadenopathy or metastases. Right posterior subcutaneous lesion is longstanding, and likely a sebaceous cyst.

Nuclear medicine

PET CT

Large intensively FDG-avid left lung central mass abutting the hilum. No central photopenia. No avid lymphadenopathy or metastases.

Fluoroscopy

Bronchoscopic biopsy

LMZ biopsy.

X-ray

Post biopsy CXR

No pneumothorax. Persistent left mid zone opacity.
