Lung consolidation

Persistent productive cough, right sided chest pain and spiking fever.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Geographic area of ground glass opacity with air bronchograms and obscuring traversing lung vasculature is seen in apical segment of right lower lobe abutting major fissure.  No other lung lesions. 

Case Discussion

Typical case of air space opacification in a segment of right lower lobe, usually an infective etiology. Whilst infection is the most common cause, differentials of pulmonary hemorrhage also needs to be considered.
