Generalized left submandibular swelling with a central hypoechoic rounded lymph node. Appearances are of lymphadenitis without collection.
The rounded lymph node retains a normal fatty hilum.
Case Discussion
Lymphadenitis is a reasonably common presentation in children. They present with swelling and redness. An ultrasound is not required unless there are red flags, e.g. prolonged swelling, pain, worsening symptoms despite antibiotics.
