Macrocystic lymphatic malformation with intralesional haemorrhage
Presentation
Retroaxillary bump noticed right after birth.
Patient Data
Elastic nonmobile subcutaneous thoracic mass under right axilla measuring ~3 cm in diameter. The skin is not ulcerated but shows signs of vascularisation.
Photo taken with the parents' permission.
Retroaxillary subcutaneous lesion measuring 3.3 x 3.2 x 1.7 cm, of moderate echogenicity, containing dilated lymphatic channels resembling cysts, with internal fluid-fluid levels. No internal vascular flow demonstrated.
Features in keeping with a macrocystic lymphatic malformation with intralesional haemorrhage.
Case Discussion
The lesion was not detected on perinatal ultrasonography and had become swollen due to intralesional haemorrhage, possibly incurred from passage through the birth canal.
