Ankle views show a fracture of the medial malleolus, and x-rays of the knee and proximal lower leg show an additional spiral fracture of the proximal fibular shaft.

Case Discussion

The tibiofibular syndesmosis and interosseous membrane are typically ruptured in this kind of injury.
