Case contributed by Matthew Lukies
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Incontinence and incomplete defecation

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
Fluoroscopy

Preliminary images are unremarkable.

The fluoroscopic images taken upon bearing up and bearing down demonstrate:

  • appropriate elevation in the anorectal angle on bearing up
  • appropriate descent of the pelvic floor and anorectal junction on bearing down

The fluoroscopic images taken upon defecating demonstrate:

  • small protrusion of the anterior rectal wall (anterior rectocoele)
  • no prolapse or intussusception

The rectum emptied well with contrast seen only in the sigmoid colon and rectum on the post evacuation images.

Case Discussion
