Vertically oriented fracture of the left iliac bone, involving the sacroiliac joint with widening of joint space antero-inferiorly. No evidence of sacral bone fracture. Fractures of left superior and inferior pubic rami with pubic diastasis.

Fracture of left transverse process of L5 vertebra.

Case Discussion

Malgaigne fracture is an unstable type of pelvic fracture, which involves one hemipelvis, and results from vertical shear energy vectors.
