Malignant breast mass - BI-RADS 5

Presentation

Palpable lump in left breast. Previous mammogram from 2003 report shows BIRADS 3 microcalcifications.

Patient Data

Age: 90 years
Gender: Female
Mammography

Left breast

Mammogram shows pleomorphic microcalcifications in a regional distribution compromising the central portion of the left breast. It has an extension 5.0 x 3.7 x 4.3 cm, in corcordance with palpable lesion.

There is also thickening of the skin and nipple retraction. 

The imaging findings are highly suggestive of malignancy: BI-RADS 5.

Case Discussion

Unfortunately, the patient passed away due to head trauma before being able to obtain diagnostic confirmation of malignancy.
