Malignant pleural thickening - non-Hodgkin lymphoma

Case contributed by Dr Mohammad Taghi Niknejad

Known case of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. CT scan with contrast performed for follow-up during the treatment.

Patient Data

Age: 35
Gender: Male

There is circumferential pleural thickening greater than 1 cm with mediastinal pleural involvement at the left side. Pulmonary parenchyma infiltration also is noted with CT angiogram sign. Fluid collection also is seen at left pleural space.

Case Discussion

The findings are:

  • circumferential nodular pleural thickening
  • parietal pleural thickening greater than 1 cm
  • mediastinal pleural involvement

These findings are consistent of malignant involvement of pleura. In a patient with lymphoma these appearance compatible with pleural involvement of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
