Presentation

Right ring finger trauma followed by DIP joint flexion deformity.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

There is an avulsed bone flake from the dorsal side of the distal phalanx base of the ring finger. There is a corresponding defect in the phalangeal base. It shows a 4 mm retraction with the DIP joint flexion and 2 mm retraction with passive extension at the DIP joint. The terminal tendon is intact and attached to the avulsed bone flake. The central slip and the lateral slips are intact. There is no joint effusion.
