Presentation

Injured while playing basketball, upon presentation the left fourth distal interphalangeal joint is in a flexed position.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Mallet finger injury, where an avulsed dorsal fragment of the distal phalanx has been pulled proximally by the extensor tendon. The fracture line in this case also extends to the volar cortex.
