Malposition of a heat exchange central venous line in the subclavian artery
Presentation
The patient from the ICU presented with a malpositioned CVC.
Patient Data

In the following CT study, it can be observed that the catheter on the left was malpositioned in the left subclavian artery. On the right side, a correctly placed CVC can be seen in the right subclavian vein.
Case Discussion
The heat exchange central venous catheter, depending on the model, may have a part that is not well visible on chest x-ray or CT scan. This can lead to confusion with product failure, making it important to verify the integrity of the catheter before making any decisions regarding the patient's treatment in the case of malpositioned catheters.
