Info
Left femur lower diaphyseal old malunited fracture, with consequent shortening of the femur.
Diffuse osteopenia around the left knee (lower femur and upper tibia) with decreased bone density, and cortical thickness.
Osteoarthritic changes of the left knee seen as markedly narrowed joint spaces.
Case Discussion
The patient has a history of internal fixation with plates and screws (imprints are seen on CT) for left femur fracture, that were infected and subsequently removed and the left femur ended with a malunited fracture with limb shortening. The osteopenic changes are likely to be disuse osteopenia as no weight bearing due to shortening.
