Isolated right-sided, non-comminuted subcondylar mandibular fracture extending into the sigmoid notch with about 30° angulation and 25 mm ramus shortening (the distal end of the proximal fragment being angulated and laterally embedded in the swollen/partially torn right masseter muscle), the fracture line does not involve the mandibular canal or teeth bearing parts. The Stensen duct looks intact. The condyle is subluxed inferiorly, with no frank TMJ dislocation.
Case Discussion
Mandibular fractures are relatively common especially among young men, with ~40% of fractures being unifocal.
