Info

Right inner mandibular bony growth (in axial and coronal) arising opposite the premolar and molar teeth.

Case Discussion

Torus mandibularius is a bony growth from the inner surface of the mandible anteriorly near the premolars above the mylohyoid muscle. They usually develop in the middle age of life. They are usually bilateral but can be unilateral like in this case.

Aetiology is unclear but likley attributed to bruxism which is excessive teeth grinding or jaw clenching.

They are usually asymptomatic (apart form a hard lump). Incidental discovery of those lesions make them worrisome for many patients.

Diagnosis is usually made clinically but imaging might be used to confirm the diagnosis either by the use of CT or OCT.

No treatment is needed if the diagnosis is confirmed.
