Bowels not opened for a few days, on the background of cerebral palsy

Age: 35 years

Significant fecal impaction in the rectum and redundant sigmoid colon.  The sigmoid colon extends to the level of the diaphragm over a length of approximately 30 cm (12 inches), with a maximal transverse dimension of 15 cm (6 inches).  Significant mass effect from the distended sigmoid colon on adjacent structures noted.
