Meckel cave meningocele

Sellar macroadenoma removed a decade ago, now develops headache and MRI was requested.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female
  • abnormal enlargement of left Meckel cave associated with loculated non-enhancing cystic lesion isointense to CSF signal on both T1- and T2-weighted images. Preserved normal flow-related signal void of the cavernous portion of the left internal carotid artery. Left temporal craniotomy. Normal enhancing pattern of the remaining right pituitary gland, with rightward deviation of the stalk
  • age-related central and peripheral cerebral volume loss with abnormal signal of the peri-ventricular white matter, as well as multiple right caudate head small old infarctions
  • bilateral mastoid effusion

Case Discussion

Post-operative changes following sellar surgery with resultant iatrogenic Meckel cave meningocele.
